Rock Camp Coach
Guitarist and composer Griffin Semple was introduced to CMC as a music student. At CMC he excelled under the tutelage of Dan Leonard and several other of the area’s best teachers. The combination of their guidance and Griffin’s enthusiasm presented him with opportunities like performing internationally and attending Loyola University New Orleans on a full scholarship.
At Loyola, majoring in jazz studies allowed Griffin to focus on his passion for guitar and improvisation while pursuing his other musical interests like composition, electronic music, and production. In New Orleans, he relished performing with several New Orleans legends and modern jazz luminaries. The D.C. area has also afforded Griffin an equally fulfilling performing career as both a leader and a sideman. Griffin’s passion for performing is equaled by his passion for teaching.
Since 2011, Griffin has been a valued instructor at CMC’s Rock Camps. When you put together Griffin’s interests in varied styles of music such as Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, etc. with the fact that he is proficient on multiple instruments, and thoroughly enjoys teaching, it is easy to see why he has become such a favorite with Rock Camp students.
