Rock Camp Coach
I have been playing guitar for 40 years now, and have spent 6 years in guitar lessons myself. Three of those years were devoted to studying classical guitar. I have been teaching for over 14 years now and I have and had many very successful students. That’s my gratification!
My approach to teaching is to start with the basic fundamentals of music, and then introduce more theory and technique as the student advances. My strong point is working with beginners and intermediate students. I like to work at each student’s individual pace. I want you to get it. My goal is to get you to develop your own playing style. I don’t want you to sound like me.
Secondly, I like to encourage students to learn finger picking as they get more comfortable with the guitar. I think that this really enhances their guitar experience and allows for a much broader and more accomplished guitar player. Not to mention that almost all of those who have taken on finger picking absolutely love it. I was inspired to learn the guitar in the 60’s as a young kid. The guitar sound in those old popular songs just grabbed me and I knew I had to learn how to play. I never had a dull moment and music became a big part of my life. When I was 30 I decided to go back into guitar lessons and study classical guitar. This was very challenging but made me a much better player all around.
My main passion is playing rock and roll, southern rock, blues, acoustic guitar and finger picking. I also enjoy making recordings and using effects to enhance and emulate the songs I play. I am constantly learning new songs myself. I never seem to get enough.
