Vocal & Piano Instructor
Alison Risi has been engaged in vocal and piano performance since her early childhood years, earning spots in community, church, and school choirs as well as performing in various piano festivals. Her passion for vocal performance blossomed during high school, where she was accepted into advanced choirs (including choirs she auditioned for: all county, all district, and VMEA honors choir) and was given solo opportunities every year (memorable moment: soloist in 2008 when Battlefield and Garfield high school joined to perform in Ireland and England). She also levered her talents in piano and voice and began private lessons during her junior year of high school.
Alison continued her music education at George Mason University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Vocal Performance and studied abroad at Ewha Womans University. She was classically trained, and performed with an opera production. During her time at George Mason she continued to expand her private instruction, teaching over 60 students from ages 3 to 50, concentrating primarily on young beginner students. Her teaching includes a strong emphasis on music theory, which she believes is essential to building a strong music foundation.
In addition to teaching piano and voice lessons, Alison has coached singers who are competing in pageants. She also continues to serve as a cantor at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she performs for Mass and weddings (and performs for weddings and funerals outside of church).
